Abstract

The volume documents the field work of Paul Bartsch during the Albatross Expedition to the Gulf of California, February 28 - April 12, 1911. The journal includes loose inserts with notes, correspondence and new clippings. The entries are dated and narrative in structure. They contain information about observations, ship movements, and daily activities. Some entries are organized by stations number (e.g. D. 5673) and list location information, characteristics of water and bottom, and measurements. In the back of the volume is a list of photographs recorded with number, date, subject, and locality. Contains numerous hand drawn maps with notations. Locations include, but are not limited to, Balenos Bay, and Pichlinque Bay.
