Descriptive Entry
This accession consists of records that document the formation and activities of the Society for Marine Mammalogy. The papers cover the activities of the first four presidents: Kenneth S. Norris, James G. Mead, W. F. Perrin, and Robert L. Brownell. Materials include information on board meetings (minutes, constitution, bylaws, animal protection and captivity issues, regulations for voting for board members, ballots, and results of elections); examples of the Society newsletter that was produced before the Society's journal, Marine Mammal Science, came into existence; manuscripts for articles and book reviews; and budget information (tax forms, summaries of expenses, and dues). Records also include correspondence, membership mailing lists, phone logs, and information on biennial conferences.
