Descriptive Entry

This accession consists of the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute's (STRI) bioinformatics website as well as STRI's Center for Tropical Forest Science-Forest Global Earth Observatory (CTFS-ForestGEO) website.

The English- and Spanish-language versions of the bioinformatics website were crawled separately on November 2, 2016. The website is an access point to all of STRI's scientific data and information. The databases themselves are housed on other servers and are not included in these crawls of the website.

The CTFS-ForestGEO website, crawled on November 8, 2016, is a multi-institutional program that builds on and expands STRI's Center for Tropical Forest Science global network of forest plots, transforming it into a platform for a broader range of scientific investigations, such as initiatives to study carbon fluxes, temperate forests, and the impacts of climate change on biodiversity and forest function. The website includes information about the programs and its scientific initiatives.
